Hazel Gronert, Wife of Wabash Educator, Dies- Mrs. Hazel Dessery Gronert, 72, wife of Dr. Theodore G. Gronert, former chairman of the Wabash College History Department, died Tuesday morning in the Methodist Hospital at Indianapolis. She had been seriously ill three weeks. Born Feb. 27, 1887, in Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Gronert married Dr. Gronert in 1918 at Waukegan, Ill. Active in church and music circles in this city many years, Mrs. Gronert was a member of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, Athenian Club, Crawfordsville Music Club, Indiana Symphony Society and the Crawfordsville Symphony Society. She was one of the founders of the latter organization. Mrs. Gronert was a graduate of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and a music teacher at Kentucky State College for Women for a number of years. She also was a composer of music and a talented violinist and pianist. Surviving besides the husband, who is one of Crawfordsville most widely known resident, are two sisters, Leora and Mabel Dessery, both of Alhambra, Calif. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Hunt & Son Funeral Home, with cremation to follow. Rev. John DeKruyter, pastor of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, and Dr. J. Harry Cotton, chairman of the Wabash College Philosophy Department, will be the officiating ministers. Friends may call at the funeral home between the hours of 7 and 9 p.m. Wednesday.
